Open Skies is the monthly inflight magazine of Emirates, Dubai's award-winning airline.
If you left your book or magazine behind when boarding an Emirates flight, there's no need to panic. Reach into the seat-pocket in front of you and you'll find a copy of Open Skies.
Open Skies has been produced by Motivate Publishing for Emirates Airline since it inception in 1985 as Emirates Inflight. The magazine's name was changed in December 2003 to reflect Dubai's open skies policy that sees 110 airlines pass through the city's busy international airport.
When Emirates took off on 25th October 1985, its fledgling fleet comprised just two leased aircraft. Today, Emirates has grown into an international airline whose fleet of over 140 aircraft now service six continents, 63 countries and over 100 destinations from its Dubai hub. As Emirates has grown, so has the reach and target market of Open Skies. In the financial year 2009/10, Emirates carried 27.45 million passengers.
Open Skies is a high-quality lifestyle magazine that reflects the international makeup of its readers. Stories are sourced from around the world and cover diverse subjects such as travel, profiles, technology, health, environment, art, culture, cuisine, business and adventure. The magazine has both an English and an Arabic section. The only feature that appears in both languages is the monthly cover story. The multicultural, multifaceted international content ensures that male and female readers enjoy Open Skies across all age groups. Open Skies is found in the pocket of every First, Business and Economy Class seat, as well as across the network in Emirates' award-winning lounges.
In 2010, Emirates launched six new routes and more are planned in line with the airline's aggressive expansion policy. It is guaranteed that Open Skies will reach and entertain more readers on an annual basis.
